Being the host of this important event, the whole country has done a lot to welcome guest from all over the world. Even in schools, teachers and principles talk a lot about it. Attached photo is a booklet which was given to my 2 kids by their school. It has details for the games planned for each day.
Although I am not hopeful that Singapore will be able to achieve the top 3 positions (overall results), I was hoping that the Singapore team would obtain Gold medal for the football competition. However, our national team was beaten by Haiti in the semi-final match! I was not discouraged because, as I watched the game, I could feel that our home team has really played all their hearts out and the competition was simply too strong.
Table tennis (girls single) was another possible Gold medal for Singapore. On the night of the final game, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife was also on the event to cheer our player. Once again, it was too tough for Isabelle Li to take on the top seed opponent from China. She ended achieving Singapore’s second silver medal.
I must say all the Singapore participants have practiced hard and tried their best in all the games. Being a citizen of a young and small country, I am extremely pride of all the them and would think that given more time and practice, they would be able to achieve better results next round.
Work harder and we’ll be move a step closer to our target, Singapore team!
